The Farmhouse was modernised and extended by Andrew, its owner (with not a little help from his friends) to provide a modern, inviting, self-contained space that works equally well as a base for exploring all that the surrounding area has to offer or alternatively as a peaceful and secluded retreat where guests can hunker down, pull down the blinds – spring, summer, autumn or winter – light the woodburning stove, read books, play games and take walks into the hills or through the woods without once having to get in the car.

There are two bedrooms, one with a king-sized bed and one with a king-size splittable into a pair of twin beds, and there is a full-size double sofabed in an alcove in the sitting room.

Electricity is partially provided by solar panels. Central heating is powered by a biomass (wood pellet) boiler. Water comes from a spring in the valley below the cottage.

“Cose Farmhouse is a spacious and welcoming house where you are close to nature, its seasons and rhythms and at the same time sheltered from its extremes. I often see my guests arriving tired  and careworn from their journey or from the busy lives they have left and it gives me great joy to see them at the end of their stay rested, refreshed and relaxed.

“My house is across the yard from the Farmhouse – I am usually there to greet my guests and am available if needed, but otherwise will be inconspicuous.”

Andrew Floyd – owner

What guests say about their stay at Cose Farmhouse

Here are some of the reviews that guests have left after staying at Cose Farmhouse.

We had a fantastic stay at Cose Farmhouse. The house has been exceptionally restored with attention to detail in every room. The shower was amongst the best I’ve had and the bed was super comfortable. The location is incredible and so peaceful, everything we were hoping for when getting away from it all. Andrew was on hand to let as know how to make the most of the area and also how to get the fire going- it was very straightforward, we were just novices! We will definitely be back.

Andrew’s farmhouse was definitely a highlight of our trip around Scotland. The house is very comfortable and modern. We were hesitant about not having wifi during our stay but being unplugged definitely made our stay even better. Andrew was always at hand if needed and we followed all of his tips. Hs dogs Finn and Boscoe were also great company. Each morning we would take a walk around the nearby lake, woods, or sheep pastures. During the day many things were accessible to see and do, and we were able to be back in time to enjoy the house. Highly recommend stopping here, we will be back!

Staying at the Cose Farmhouse was superb. After my own bumbling of communication the day we arrived, Andrew welcomed us very late and had a fire going. Freshly-cut daffodils from the garden were in practically every room. The Highland coos and pups were an extra treat! Would definitely recommend!!

We absolutely loved Andrew’s house and never wanted to leave. It is absolutely perfect in every way.

We spent 3 nights at Andrew’s house at the beginning of January. The house is absolutely beautiful inside and out. It is furnished to a very high standard and the kitchen was very well-equipped. We loved the log burner in the living room and the bathroom was amazing. Andrew was easy to communicate with and check in and check out was very easy especially as we checked out very early in the morning. The little touches such as the slippers, book shelf, board games and biscuits on arrival made it extra special. I would recommend to anyone and would love to stay again.

We fell in love in this place! Andrew is a great host! Beautiful, peaceful cottage. Fantastic walks, evenings by the fireplace and night sky full of stars… Simply amazing! Thank you so much Andrew!

Fabulous house in a quiet location with great access to beautiful local walking routes. Andrew was lovely and helped us plan our walking routes and gave us tips about nearby areas to explore. A great break away from the city. We took the opportunity to go a walk in Cawdor estate, visit Nairn for dinner and take in the views at the beach and at Findhorn bay, all of which we would recommend. The wood-burning fire and beautiful bathroom at Cose Cottage were a lovely treat to come to after full days out and about. Thanks again Andrew!

We had a wonderful time at Cose Cottage. The cottage is beautifully-furnished and thoughtfully decorated and we loved the lay-out. The kitchen is very well equipped, the living-room is very cosy with a wood stove and the beds are very comfortable. We loved the remote location of the cottage, even if it was a challenge to find it in the dark. Andrew lives next to the cottage and was available for any queries or a chat but was also unobtrusive. The cottage is close to sites like Culloden or the beaches of Nairn and Findhorn and great for walks through the Cawdor Estate. We enjoyed our stay very much and are looking forward to coming back.
